What is the OBD-II port?
The OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics) port is a standardized connector found on all vehicles manufactured after 1996. It allows your vehicle's performance to be diagnosed and monitored.
Most common locations
The OBD-II port can be located in different places depending on your vehicle's model. Here are the most frequent locations:
Under the dashboard
Most frequent location: The port is usually located under the dashboard, on the driver's side, near the pedals or the handbrake lever.
Tip: Look for a small rectangular connector, often hidden by a plastic cover.
Near the gear lever
Common alternative: On some vehicles, the port is located in the center console, near the gear lever or the glove box.
Tip: Check under the removable console covers.
In the glove box
Particularity: Some manufacturers place the OBD-II port inside the glove box, often behind a cover.
Tip: Empty the glove box completely and check the walls.
Under the hood
Rare but possible: On some older or imported vehicles, the port may be located under the hood, near the battery.
Warning: Make sure the engine is cold before opening the hood.
